Art Gallery

Sa Buttega is the first exhibition space in Southern Sardinia dedicated to contemporary art.

Founded in 2025 by Paul Frank Wagner, a Contemporary Artist, and Angelica Manca, award-winning curriculum writer, it was conceived to bridge the gap between rural life and contemporary artistic practice, within a landscape marked by prehistoric Nuragic remains.

Housed in a former falegnameria (carpentry workshop), Sa Buttega is located in the unexpected rural town of Villasalto, in the Gerrei region of Southern Sardinia, approximately 60 km from Cagliari. Sa Buttega feels distant enough to offer a genuine retreat from urban life, yet close enough to remain accessible to art lovers from the city.

The 18-square-meter gallery, a 3 × 6 meter rectangular space, is intimate and distinctive. It preserves the architectural character of traditional Sardinian buildings, featuring a canne (bamboo) roof supported by locally sourced cypress beams and enclosed by stone walls.

We celebrate multiculturality—a vibrant crossroad where people with unique stories and diverse interests come together. It is a bridge connecting local and international artists, deeply rooted in the local makers’ community.

We are committed to collaborating with artists – emerging and established – across all forms of media and promoting their work both in our gallery and through our online platforms. Here, artists are encouraged to use the space to exhibit their work, lead workshops with local residents, and actively participate in local festivals.
